Why do Uniden tell us that we only need 500 TGID's per system on a BCD996XT? Why can we not put more in? Or, why can we not set a limit and make it optional?
Surely if I want more in there, I should be allowed to put in as many as needed.

They don't, I think you translated something wrong. That is the limit of that scanner, it has nothing to do with them telling you how many you need.

I ask, why is it restricted? What is stopping it having more than 500 TGID's? I have nearly 600 TGDI's & uID's tracked and have to be selective in what I put in now. Unfortunatley isnt a case of having 2 quick keys as the uID's is what is letting me down atm.

As already stated by GTO_04, "Hardware or firmware constraints". Why does the computer that you are using only allow you to add "so much" memory (RAM)? Surely, we should be able to buy the largest amount of memory strips available, and max out our systems at something like 32 GB of RAM (4 x 8GB strips), but no, Sony/Toshiba/Dell/Acer/etc tells me the max amount of memory that I can put in my computer.

No worries, I appreciate the input. What specifically about the hardware restricts it? I don't mean to be a pest, I am interested in the details as to why.
