really wide band vhf low profile mobile antennas are hard to come by. i have one. specs: band width @ a 1.5:1 vswr 18 mhz, bw @ a 2:1 vswr 24 mhz, gain equal to a 1/4wave whip, mounts on a motorola 3/4 inch mount, has no "delicate" caps or inductors to burn out, unlimited power, easy to install even a caveman could it! height 4 inches. been working with low pro ants. since 1966..........thanks for reading this....dave

That makes no sense... 144-174 Mhz.. that is FOUR inches... and has UNLIMITED POWER capability?

Ok... Let's go back to antenna class! In order for an antenna to be able to handle UNLIMITED power, it must have NO COIL.. But this one is FOUR inches tall?

Last time I checked, a 4 inch 1/4 wave antenna would be resonant at about eh... 700 mhz?

A 4” high antenna with a coil made of very heavy guage wire or tubing and a capacity hat could be made to handle more power than the RG-58 it’s fed with. How much VHF power can you realistically generate in a vehicle? 110w commercial radios would not be a problem, or would a 160w 2m amp. Anything higher would usually be someone going for VHF DX and they would not be using a 4” high compromise antenna.
