• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I was scanning last night around 12:30am and heard some weird stuff on this frequency. It sounded like two robotic voices reading a book, 2 lines at a time, about 15 seconds apart. Stuff like " rain dripping from the roof makes soothing sounds; not all can hear it" and " the boat sailed out of the harbor; two men fought on shore. None of it made sense. I thought it was weird, the next voice said "the story is not weird; the rising sun brighten the eastern sky" ....creepy.

I didn't get a PL as I was using my old scanner. I'm located in Easton, and my close call did not pick this up either so it must have been on a repeater? Any ideas as to what this may have been?

Well, at least if I'm going insane I'm not alone. I thought some little kid fell asleep with their audio book left on and I was hearing it over their baby monitor. Once I figured that wasn't the case, testing was my next guess. Thanks
