Hi all,

Is this Diamond Antenna K400S Trunk/Hatchback Mount compatible with a scanner? I'd like to purchase this for use with my Uniden BCT15 and an as-yet undetermined multi-band antenna but am unsure by the tech specs:

  • UHF Mounting Base, adjustable position.
  • Power Rating: 500 watts FM, 700 watts PEP SSB.
  • Coaxial Cable: 13.5' RG316 Teflon cable with SMA connector, PL259 adapter included.

Whaddya think?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dave

I use the NMO version of this mount - it's stood up thru ice and snowstorms over the last couple of years with no more problems than a little paint has rubbed off. Very tough and rugged. Most scanner antennas won't ever be too long for this little puppy 73s Mike

I am using two of the luggage rack NMO versions of this for my new Avalanche. The scanner I use has an SMA connector (BCD396T) and I use the included PL-259 adapter with the radio I am using (FT-8100), I can report that it works just fine both ways. Somewhat surprising to me based on the size of the coax!

YES ! I just bought one 3 weeks ago for my Jeep Cherokee for a road trip to Arkansas. Best mount I've ever had. Took my AOR-8200, and like Lou Maag , I wondered about the size of the Coax, But it receives great. I've got nothing to complain about.....

When I bought mine , the dealer only had the UHF mount in stock. BUT , Comet makes 2 adapters. One is the AD-25M that converts the UHF (SO-239) to an NMO mount , & the AD-35M that converts the UHF (SO-239) to a 3/8x24 mount. So now I don't worry , I can just about mount any mobile antenna I want as long as it's not too big..............
