Willimson County Sheriff Office (Willimson County SO) can get on any freq in the county but Carterville, Herrin, Johnston City, and Marion have there own Dispatch.

I know it is confusing to have a County Sheriff's office that does at times get on the PD and Fire Freqs for each city. However, like I stated above, the above cities do have there own dispatch!

Also city departments (Like Carterville Herrin, & Johnston City have done in the past) can and do get on the Sheriff Office freqs (AKA MAPS, and the Sheriff Repeaters. Yes this is confusing, but I think it is and interoperabulity deal!

Hope this helps everyone understand more about how things are done in Willimson County.

More information for Willimson County IL

The county has 2 repeaters both with output of 154.875. Sometime you with hear the SO dispatcher tell a unit to swich to "West Repeater" or the "East Repeater" depending on if the county can here them or not.

I do not know much about the 2 repeater system. I do not know if the county is using a different PL for imput or how the 2 repeaters are set up.

More Updates on Willimson County

Willimson County IL Sheriff Department Repeater Update

One of the repeaters uses 203.5 for both RX and TX but I am not sure if that is the East or West Repeater.

The other repeater uses a different PL tone for input but I am not sure what it's TX pl is.

Both repeaters send out the 203.5 PL for 154.875.

Walker Communications does the Sheriff Departments Repeaters, this was confermed to me by NovaCom Communications in Herrin (Who is respoisible for the Moble and HT radios for the Sheriff Department).

Walker has been doing much testing on the repeaters over the last few months. There are some bugs with the system but they way NovaCom explaned things to me is that the two repeaters were set up to give HT's better coverage.

It has not yet been explaned to me how the repeaters will be set up once the Sheriff depearment is required to go to Narrow Band. The techs at NovaCom have sugesseted that it would be better to link the two sites together, thus maybe using some kind of "voter" system.

The current system works for the most part but there are some bugs such as some sports that you might be able to "key" up both repeaters and not realy know which on to use. Plus at times you might here two units trying to get to dispatch at the same time, does not happen often but I have heard it in the past.

Herrin Fire Repeater Update

I do not have anything to report about the Herrin Fire repeater that is suposed to be going up as Narrow Band.

Major Case Squad Repeater

I have never head any traffic on this repeater. Can someone advise if it is still in use.

White Ash Repeater ???
155.07 I have never head any traffic on this freq. Any one know if it is still being used in Willimson County???

Willimson County EMA Repeater
155.085 I have never head anyone on this repeater but did here someone "key" it with no voice sometime back. They didn't even use it when we had all the storms come thru the other week. Can anyone conferm that this is indead still in use or what it might be used for?

Might be Going to P25

I was over at a radio shop in Herrin IL today and we were talking about the New Herrin IL Fire Department Repeater that will be going on the air. The Herrin IL Fire Department Repeater will be P25. The radio shop did tell me that there is talk the the County Sheriff Department could also be going to P25 however that is not known at this time! When I get more information on if freq's will be changing and if anything is going to P25 I will post it.

County Still Not All Correct

The admins have not changed anything and there is some wrong info listed under Cambria and other areas in the County. I have submitted updates and no one has done anything yet.

All I am asking is that a database admin please look at what I have submiting and make the changes!

Herrin FD Repeater

The New Herrin FD Repeater is up and running. It is a MACom and does both analog and P25 at the same time.
