Anyone know whats going on with the Win-96 I picked Buy It and it went to the pages where you enter all your info and it wont accept mine. I read on this forum somewhere where everyone suggested to either use PayPal or your credit card because for some reason the folks buying with money orders weren't getting their key. I tried both PayPal and my credit card and it keeps saying either my email address is wrong or my AVG number is incorrect. Whats it take to purchased this software. I want to buy the software and cant doesn't make any sense to me. Everyone seems to really like Win-96 and the little while I've used the temporary 30 day software I really like it too. Boy they sure make it hard to get it. Any other software out there that you can buy?
Thanks.

you may want to post this in the software forum. I have had no experiences with the software or buying it. you may get more help there. good luck.

edit:

what OS and browser are you using? I looked at the payment site using Firefox 2 and it appears to be OK. if you are running IE7...don't. get Firefox and try again.

I was on one of the Yahoo groups for Win96 or for Pro96 and Don Starr left a message there a couple days ago. He said there were some problems and listed a key to use that would be valid for 180 days. He said that should be long enough to sort out the problems on his end. Sorry I don't remember which group I saw it in since I had Win96 already and was not keeping track of the thread that closely. If I find it again, I will post for you. At least this may give you a starting point to search if I can't find it too quick.

Thanks fellows appreciate that. I went and got the key for 180 days so maybe when Don gets everything back in order I will be able to pay him for the key.

Well I just now tried it again and still get the same thing. Here is what it says.
StarrSoft.com Payment Results
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We're sorry, but the credit card transaction failed. The reason returned by our processor was:

The transaction resulted in an AVS mismatch. The address provided does not match billing address of cardholder.

Call your credit card company, the message is saying your credit card company is rejecting it.

I would do like seamusg suggested. either call the cc company or go online and verify the addresses.

Had something similar to this awhile back on another website. It turned out to be a zip code mismatch. Here in Berkeley County WV we had our old zip split into four new ones in July due to our large increase in population. In my case I had forgotten to update my zip with the credit card company.

Hooray it worked finally, I called my card company and it was because of the zip code change. Thanks a million fellows for all your help this was really giving me a headache. Now I got the key and the software is running great. What would we all do if it weren't for these nice forums like this one.

On a rejection of a credit card, the credit card company does not send back an exact reason only a type of rejection. If you call the credit card company they can give the credit card owner an exact reason for the rejection. Writing to Don will not give the reason, only the creadit card owner can get it form the credit card company. Been there done that. Posting here will not solve the problem.

credit card rejection

Probably getting of topic but credit cards can sometimes be a nuisance to comprehend.
I sometimes experience difficulty using American Express and just waned to pass this along. American Express uses 15 digits in the account number, most or all other cards use 16 digits. So when you enter 15 digits in a 16 digit requirement AMEX just will not work.
