Freescan: Windows 7 To Windows 10

Scanner and Freescan worked fine for years till the 7 had a nervous breakdown, so
Windows 10 it is.

Download Freescan and hook up the cables and I get: FT232R UART driver is unavailable.
From what I read this is the serial cable to USB? Not sure but I shut down computer,
plugged in the USB then start computer.

I see here some say a new cable, others say the old one works ??
I'm new to this Windows 10, takes me an hour to find anything.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to download the serial driver for the cable first

No. The windows 7 rig was a XPS 420 from a guy who gets computers from
the university and updates them or whatever. I had it about 8 years then it just
dumped its drawers, great computer.

Seeing I'll be 70 in a couple weeks I figured one last new one should do.

Could someone tell me how to change my email address here? I can find to change
passwords but not email.

You should be able to change your email from the main radioreference.com page. Not the Forums page.
Click your username at the top of the main page and the option to change your email yourself is there.
If your username is not shown, you may not be logged into the main site.

I only asked because I just updated about 4 computers from WIN 7 to Win 10 for FREE the site still works to D/L the update.

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.

It said Installshield was interrupted, driver was not installed.

You need to download the serial driver for the cable first

Any idea why it was interrupted, try again?

Restart your computer & try again. If it stops again, no idea why

Thanks Mr. Whiskey, finally figured it out.

My 2014 SERIAL to USB cable, made by Sabrent, used the FTDI chipset. The newer Sabrent use the
Prolific chipset, that's why it wouldn't work I guess.

Went to Sabrent and after a lot of searching I found the driver for mine. Thank goodness Windows 10
knows where to put the driver, I sure wouldn't.

Works fine, happy as a clam.
