Do others find that the 5x,xxx TG's are encrypted all the time? I am just in town for the week and so far I have locked out two TG's because I here a split second of ENC before it mutes. Comes in really loud. I don't think it would be appropriate for me to make a submission based on a few days here but the mode column may need updating for those TG's.

Yes indeed all the 50xxx tgs are indeed encrypted tgs. they are pretty much all Winnipeg Police Service TG's in the Detective, vice, Street Gangs & other sensitive areas. Lock them out.

I take it that you are using a digital scanner then. Lots of action from the RCMP's digital 60xxx tgs can be monitored. There are of course some encrypted ones there as well but for the most part they are in the clear Digital mode.

Yup. Brought the 396XT with me. Haven't heard anything from the sixty-thousand groups though. Just too bad you aren't allowed to use scanner mobile here. I miss having it in the car.

I have lived here in Manitoba all my life. I have been scanning for for over 30 years and always had /have a scanner in my vehicles that I drove at work or personal. Just use common sense when scanning. If you see you are going to be stopped for some reason turn off your scanner and slip it down on the floor beside your leg. Oh and for Goodness sakes don't follow emergency vehicles around.

Colby They are all in the data base. All that needs to be added is that any tg's in the 50XXX range, especially the 3 WPS towers site 12, 13 14 are all pretty much encrypted TG's Sorry I don't have a file for the Uniden Digital scanners to share with you.

RCMP on all towers througout the province are pretty much in the clear but there are indeed several encrypted ones. My scanners will ignore the Encrypted ones, at least my newer GRE-500

The best tower to monitor for the RCMP if you are staying in and around Within 15 miles or so of the city centre is site 49 tower on top of the Trizec Building on Portage and Main

If you have access to win 500 program you can take a look how my GRE 500 is programmed via the attachment.

The only 50XXX tg's I could find in the DB were for various private businesses. There were the 52XXX and up tgs listed under WPS if those are what you meant.

Yes Colby the one listed under the WPS site they are all Winnipeg Police TG's. all the ones in the 52XXX & 53XXX range. The 3 towers sites 13 14 15 are exclusively Winnipeg City Towers for WPS & WFPS with a few other patch tgs with the RCMP and mutual aids The best tower to monitor is once again the one on Trizec Building downtown . Site 14

Alrighty. I figured so, but thought I better be safe. I'll make the appropriate update to the DB.

My 396XT usually is perefect at ignoring ENC but this is the first time I have had it scanning 800 P25 stuff. I expect if I took some time to tweak it, it would be ok too. I usually monitor a VHF system and it never opens on ENC. It just does for a split second here, enough that you need to lock them out. Nice chatting with you guys.
