Winterheat 2023

Anyone familiar with this? I had seen it shared on a local ham club FB page not long ago. It looks to be a contest for over 50 MHz, which allows techs to take part in it. FM simplex and on digital modes. More information is shared in the website.

Never heard of it and I enjoy 50 MHz and up contests. Additionally, the lack of a designated digital freq for 6 m and 33 cm is odd.

Perhaps one watering hole is best for each band for analog. The same for digital, just one freq for each band. There was a suggestion in another thread about using 147.510 as a shared digital simplex freq which seems good to me. Is that freq a “no go” by some coordinating bodies? Also, why is P25 not listed as an option?

Not really sure. Probably because there are more people on DMR, YSF and D-Star. I have never talked to anyone who uses P25.

I participated last year sort of. Never made a contact. In my area on VHF hardly anybody bothers with anything other than some evenings repeater nets. Hell, I even made the traffic net aware of the event and still no activity.
