Can someone give me the link to the wireless microphone frequencies, Like the ones the cops wear, I figure that would be something interesting to listen to, I know you have to be really close to hear them, But a lot of cops drive down my road, so that's not an issue for me.

Thanks for the help.

Wireless Mikes

Don't think you'll hear much of anything. RF output of the mikes is anywhere from 50-100 milliwatts, at best. Many agencies have pulled the mikes out due to privacy concerns and union objections. My agency does not use them. You would have to be right up on us, or across the street to hear us.

The mikes used in entertainment venues would be a nice catch, as they are optimized and checked frequently.

My guitar and wirless mic are in the 171 MHz range. May be older, 15 years plus, but still working like a charm.

Most commercial grade wireless mics I've seen are in the UHF band, 525 MHz to 815 MHz.

I just picked up an Ambico Model V-0623 Wireless Microphone System for $9.95 @ Connie's Antique's in Joplin, MO.

TX/RX Freq is 49.89Mhz.

Unit works great! Gets about 200ft range and has very clear audio. Also, has High/Low Mic modes. and adjustable gain on the receiver, with mono output to 1/8" plug. Good for using with camcorder/digtal recorder, or otherwise.

Wireless microphones can be interesting at Disney as well. I have picked up microphones at MGM Fla outside playhouse disney..heard some behind the scene things. Below is a reference list too Disney Land (Ca) and wireless microphone listening and a few ideas related to the subject. Also have picked them up on cruises while docked near other ships... My 2 cents...73 KB4OMO

My experience with captuing Police wireless microphones has been the sound of a voice and lots of road noise. If you are close enough to hear them clearly, you may be meeting one of the officers soon, especially in these days of enhanced Homeland Security awareness.
