• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have a motorola Saber 1E. It has a headset with PTT mic connector on the back. I want to take the wire from that connector and convert the end into a 3.5mm female jack to plug other headsets i have into it. The wire has 5 wires from it. Green, Blue Copper, Red w/clear insulation, Red With white wire stripes. The 3.5mm stereo jack I have has only 3 pins, pin 1, pin 2 and pin 3 which i know is the ground (I think).

Any help would be great. :D

The saber uses a resistor to select which accessory is connected to it, so as long as you use the wires WITH the connector, you should be able to bring it out, but as far as the pinout , I can't help you...

you'll need a 3.5mm AND 2.5mm jack, one for the mic, one for the earpiece...

Trying to figure the wiring out on the 3.5mm Female TRS jack (not picured here) to fit the 2.5mm TRS "T" Jack.

The "T" jack goes into radio and the wire comming out of the top goes to a PTT button and the wire plugged in on the bottom goes to the ear piece with boom mic. (which i would rather use then the clip on PTT button mic. Because if I need to whisper in the field then I have to talk into the mic which means more movement of hand and my head rather then just my hand. Hope that makes sense.

I understand about what you said on the needing 2 3.5mm female jacks. Can i still use 2 and then get them to convert into 1 for the "T" jack. If I can just get the wiring down I will have it made. :D
