Grumble. To say that one's location is in Western North Carolina is not to say much. Some would call anywhere from Charlote west WNC. To say that one can hit such-and-such a repeater or tower is not much more help, since few of us will know the names and the site is likely a "farm" seving agencies in several counties. It would be much more informative to tell us the county or agencies of interest, the counties a repeater site serves, or the scanner's location. And unless you have an antenna stuck 'WAY up in the air, we need to know what side of the valley you're in.
As has been pointed out here before, there is quite a bit of Western North Carolina west of Asheville. I will add that there is quite a bit to the east as well
