To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Kendrik they are both the same radios and programming and I have the software

I have the New KG-UV2D radio and USB cable and program, started programming the radio first for VHF Freq's. How do you split the programming so that the UHF Freq's show up on the bottom section of display ??

I programmed the VHF list first and it shows up identical on both A/B list ??

The programming software doesn't show how to split freq's ?? or the A/B list

On the software go to "Usable Function" under "A-Frequency Mode" "B-Frequency Mode" and under option "Channel Disp Way" it gives you 4 display ways. Is this what you are referring to?

Did you expand the box to the left? and it should say "Channel Message", "Usable Function", and "Key Set"

OK my program says Optional function

What I am saying is when i set up my list i have 128 channels listed , but no A Column and B column ??

so both A/B have dupilicate programming I want to program UHF on B channels ?

How do I do that >???

Both displays show both bands and all 128 channels.
You can't force A to only show one band and B the other.
If you want A to be VHF and B to be UHF you have to dial up a VHF channel in A and a UHF channel in B.

So what your saying is you want JUST UHF on B and VHF on A?

You cant have just UHF on B and VHF on A. All A and B are is just 2 different views basically so you can set on 2 different frequency's at once. Both A and B will always have same programing. In the software you can just set what frequency you want A/B to start at, but it will always be same programing for both A/B.

If you are in frequency mode you can do MENU>8>MENU to change it.

Default is wide. If you have narrow on you will see "N" in top right. Use the default unless you know they are narrow.

PL's and DPL's are specific to the tone they send. So, settiing it 'as close' won't work. What PL's do you have on your list? Isn't it wonderful that you can get a radio that transmits out of band with no mods, and you can't get all the tones. As my dad always told me: Ya gets whats ya pay for:) Well, not exactly what he said.....
