Are Wylie FD ops talkgroups encrypted? I can't figure them out. I have all of their talkgroups programmed in my BCD436.
I hear the locution dispatch talkgroup 825 loud and clear, but when the computer voice says "on OPS XXX in Wylie"
everything goes completely silent on the associated ops channels, and I hear no further communications. It might say
"on OPS 3...In Wylie", so I go to OPS 3 talkgroup on my scanner... NOTHING. WTH is going on?

I live in Plano. I am only talking about Wylie FIRE talkgroups, not PD. I realize the majority of POLICE
talkgroups, save for dispatch, are encrypted. But in regards to FD, up until this point, I thought that FD
Fire Marshall was the only one that was encrypted. But this activity has been going on for quite some
time after initial dispatch, then silence on the ops talkgroups. I can verify it is NOT just my scanner, or
simulcast issues. I have listened to the Collin County Broadcastify feed that carries the Wylie FD talkgroups.
Same thing - locution dispatch fine - Goes to talkgroups for OPS - NOTHING.

I live in Allen, and my guess is they decided to encrypt additional channels. Allen has several encrypted TG’s as well , and I’m afraid it’s a sign of the times. Having been a police dispatcher for many years , I personally think they have other tools to accomplish sensitive data communications (MDT’s etc) . Unfortunately, Police and Fire leadership is moving away from transparency to the public, and that’s NOT a good thing at all...

Put your scanner in search mode and see if the talk group matches up with what you have programmed.
