Xcel Energy, at least in the Amarillo, TX area has changed their system from the old Hybrid VSELP system to a new Project 25 System.

I have been working on this for a few days but have not had an opportunity to check anything outside of the immediate Amarillo area. Since I have heard traffic from as far away as the OK/TX border I know there are more site active. The Amarillo site is not announcing adjacent sites, but it is showing being networked.

What we need is some others looking especially in the TX Panhandle and in the OK areas adjacent to TX. Naturally anything found should be submitted to the new P25 system page and as we get expansion into more areas the system will start showing up in more areas (state & county pages).

I am initially posting this in both the TX and OK forums as I need both to look. If someone from further out sees activity, please submit it and maybe post a copy of this (or a link to this) in your regional forum.

Thanks in advance.

I'm 32 miles into Oklahoma from Texas. What do you think would be the best area to search? I'm off for the next 4 days and I can do some good listening...

Jim, try either the Higgins, TX or Wheeler, TX site frequencies. Use the frequencies from the old hybrid system.

I can hear Wheeler PD and the THP repeater there. I'm adding the system to my 996 right now. Thanks!

Lockney site is now P25 (not MOT II) - shows up as site 107.

No traffic heard (of course it was Sunday afternoon....). Info submitted.

This afternoon there was some interesting conversations by radio techs on TG 401. Apparently they were at two outlying sites (where I don't know) but TG 401 was affiliated with the Amarillo site. Basically it sounds as if they were having problems at these two outlying sites with repeater failures and were switching CCh's around and testing individual channels (repeater frequencies) making sure that they had repaired them. I guess they were also testing networking since they were not at the same site. I wish the system was advertising the connected sites.

Site #102 came online today - in Lubbock. CC = 859.2625, Alt CC=860.2625.

There sure is a lot of new P25 systems coming online here! (Tech is moving to theirs apparently - heard some officers on there tonight, but that's another topic).

License Locations

The following License information may be useful for those of you who don't realize that Xcel Energy is in your area.

Texas/Oklahoma area Licenses:
WPHZ361 - OK Panhandle area and a few of TX Panhandle locations south of the OK border. (Note that the city Four Corners, OK is probably incorrect as a city location, but the coordinates look correct for Cimarron Co.)
WPHZ365 - TX Panhandle area concentrated in the Amarillo area plus Perryton.
WQAU972 - Hereford, TX
WPHZ360 - Lubbock and north of the Lubbock area both east and west.
WPHZ364 - The area between Lubbock and Midland/Odessa. Note the Denver City location is probably closer to Seminole than it shows based on radio technician conversations working on the site today.

New Mexico area Licenses:
WPHZ356 - Mostly located in the SE Corner of the state.
WPHZ357 - A crooked line of four sites running down the east side of the state starting with Tucumcari in the north to Carlsbad in the south.
WPRS372 - Listed as Clovis, but actually located the south, south east of Clovis.

Denver, Colorado area Licenses:
KNGD875 - Several sites in the Golden, Boulder areas and west of Denver metro.
WPFK394 - Denver International Airport site.

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN Area Licenses:
All of the following licenses are covering the metro area including the power generating station at Red Wing --
WPAL525 - WNDG563 - WPAL525 - KNNH887
