If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

XPR5550e firmware 2.09

I got an XPR5550e with a password protected codeplug I’m trying to recover. My only issue is I don’t have access to the 2.09 firmware which as I understand it is required to get it to 2.10 which is available from MyView. Does anyone know where I can find the 2.09 firmware? It’s probably my best bet to recover this radio and get it programmed for myself.

Thanks!!

Depending on what's in it already you may not need R2.09 you can just go to R2.10.

So power it up, look in the Subscriber menus -> Utilities -> Radio Info -> Versions.
See I thought it might work and I downloaded 2.10, but when I went to do recover, it gave me the error saying it couldn’t find the package to do it. It currently has 2.06 and was last programmed in 2017.

Just do the recover with CPS16.
That’s what i’m trying to do but it won’t work. I can’t remember the exact dialogue box but basically it says it’s unable to recover it because it’s missing the correct package. I was assuming it’s because I don’t have a firmware I can push to the radio since, as I understand it, I can’t jump from 2.06 right to 2.10, but need to get 2.09 before I can go to 2.10 based on other threads I’ve read here about the topic.

There is no 2.10 with CPS16. 2.10 means CPS 2.0. So in CPS16 it will not recover? Another way is to take an existing code plug from an identical radio, & write it to the offending radio. I’ve successfully used both methods, but always with CPS16, & FW 2.09, or below.

That’s correct, it will not recover in CPS16. I don’t have access to another XPR5550e to get the codeplug from either. That’s why I’m hoping someone has a copy of the 2.09 firmware so I can recover it using that. Else i’ll have to try and source another 5550e to copy the codeplug from but that’s not ideal as I don’t know anyone with one!
