The programming is way different than Icom. A good radio for the price. RX audio is pretty good. Get great reports on TX audio. I just wish someone made a straight USB programming cable other than what I've found available which is serial that needs a converter to use USB.

Also I already own a serial to USB cable so that should be no problem for me.
Thanks for all the responses guys, keep em coming!

I highly recommend this radio. It's the best all around dual band radio I could find for price, features, etc.
So you are trying to say this is a "girly" radio???zz0468 said:I bought one for my wife, who is also licensed. It's a great little radio.

A: If you have it.
B: If the ladies like it.
Conclusion: You will benefit from having a Yaesu 7800-R.
Interesting comment, what has that to do with this thread?ke5nuc said:...But if I wanted a scanner (which I don't) I would buy a scanner
