Does anyone know what frequencies Yellow Cab uses for Birmingham and surrounding areas? I think their cabs have either VHF or UHF antennas if I'm not mistaken. More than anything I just want to see if I can pick them up from my location. I have a sinking feeling that they are on Nextel or SL.

I have been hearing cabs on 152.420 and 462.150. 152.420 is a base and 462.150 sounds like the mobile units. Other Yellow Cab Frequencies are 152.330 *, 152.390, 152.450*, 452.100 and 463.675. The * indicates the frequencies for the MDT's in the cabs as all I hear is a data stream. I get the impression that all the cab companies in Birmingham, Jefferson County are using the 152.420 frequency for a common dispatch frequency. Cab frequencies run from 152.260 to 152.450.

The 152.420 frequency is usually fairly busy. Like any other user, it has it busy periods and slack periods. I am usually listening at work between 10pm and 6am. Thursday thru Monday. I am using a RS Pro-95 with 300 channels and scan all the channels. I occasionally hear a bit of traffic on the 462.150 frequency also.
