Here are the ATC comms with Potomac 119.700. Aircraft reception is poor, sounds like he said something about the engine. They were following another Cherokee from the same airport. LiveATC Audio

N249WF N8445S ARUNDEL 1
Awsome audio work there Airscan on 119.700.. Guess they changed out controllers as she seemed a little overwhelmed with the situation.
N249WF pilot sounded confused as well also flying kind of low inbound.I guess they were trying to stay at or below 2k
altitude on the way in maybe trying to stay out of Class B airspace threading the needle between DC and BWI in that area.
Assume there was no fire as took them several hours to actually find the plane in the woods at 3:30 am local thanks to an I-Phone SOS trace alert that was picked up by PG County Emergency Center.

North headed South (out of Dover maybe?)
no idea about altitude but pretty low. I could hear the motors.
I thought maybe Goodyear blimp returning from US Open in Long Island but none
of those blimps were in the area and aerial coverage at US Open was drones only so far as I can find.
Maybe check coms on Dover apch 132.450 or tower 126.350.

Going to take a guess you heard and saw this T6

The engine sound was probably different than you are used to hearing.

Saw that also Terry and thought that was possibly his sound/sighting.. Agree on this one as course and timing seems right.
Nice old bird :)

Thunderbirds departed Ohio westbound to home base Nellis. Look like meeting tanker GUCCI-46
Their next show isn't till Duluth MN on July 11th.. Guess have some time off now :)

Another RAF C-17 coming this way from Brize. Maybe another for Martin State Red Arrows?

ACARS had them pulling METAR data for KCEF (Westover ARB)

But guess we will find out in a few hours if it gets noisy across the street.
