Would you be able to share what you are using for the "specially made USB cables" for the rear ports? I have a serial to USB cable that I sometimes use for the rear port of my 996P2, but I would like something more permanent.

MtnBiker2005 provided some good info from Pro96Com a few posts back, are you within range of that site to give it a try? I am too far away. The database won't update itself, it needs users to confirm the talkgroups. If you are within range, then you are a good candidate.

It still sounds as if the scanner is attempting to scan more than just the Kailua site and trying to lock onto a control channel that you don't want. I would make absolutely sure that you are scanning ONLY the favorites list with the one Kailua site and nothing else. Make sure that Monitor Full...

Sounds like perhaps in Discovery Mode, it is locking on the Kailua site properly like you want, but in regular scan mode it is attempting to lock onto a more distant site. If I were you, I would go into Sentenel and DELETE all sites except for Kailua on your favorites list to be absolutely sure...
