    Affordable VLR Suggestions?

Interesting! Thanks for posting. I figured there was a software option floating around… fairy certain the eventide is just a nuc running Linux with some proprietary software… I have a couple old i3 dells I could test with. Then, my main issue is going to be power management. I need it to power...

    Affordable VLR Suggestions?

I’m looking for an affordable voice logging recorder for a vehicle install project I’m working on. I can’t afford an eventide… I just need it to record when I’m TXing and when RXing, preferably with each instance creating a separate time stamped file. Anything using an SD card, thumb drive, or...

    WIA closing shop

Just FYI, WIA flip-flopped. They decided to continue offering coordination services, so they re indeed a viable option still today. -B

    Three Meter Solid Whip?

Hey guys, I’m looking for a ~3m whip (9’4”-10’). A CB whip is too short and everything I can find that’s longer is collapsible and not designed for use when in motion. I can find any number of mil style folding whips and telescoping whips, but I need something that will work at 75mph that I...

    Help with RPM2 Dongles

Apparently all dongles in Colorado can be hacked and therefore there is no market for Harris radios in Colorado per the CCNC (Consolidated Communications Network of Colorado). They will ONLY allow Kenwood, or Motorola. NO HARRIS or L3H hardware will be allowed.

    XG-100M Feature Codes

Honest question: Why is feature 50 Omap wideband disable not used to control wideband, instead using feature 58? -B

    XG-100M Feature Codes

Ya, especially since I thought the whole point of single key AES was to lower the financial barrier to entry (as in, not having to purchase a $10k key loader suite, along with the feature costing nil). 🤷🏼‍♂️ -B

    XG-100M Feature Codes

To my recollection, the 100M is not an OMAP radio… (Not picking on you, just trying to avoid confusion.) -B

    M7100/Orion Headset Microphone?

The accessory connector should get you going. There should be a pin for PTT, and audio I/O. Try searching “Harris m7100 install manual”, or leave out “install” and go from there. -B

XG-100M Squelch Not Working on Analog

Ok, so first, P25 conventional is in no way analog. It’s a completely digital (and standardized) protocol, unlike ProVoice or aegis. There is a squelch adjust on the 100M, you just need to make sure it’s in the menus list or on a hot key. How are you programming the radio (p25c set with some...

New to harris and looking for info....

Just not rpm2. Rpm(1), version 14, usually just called rpm14 is fine. It’s just confusing because you can program the XG-100M, and some other radios from the same era using rpm2, but not the 100p. It’s special… -B

New to harris and looking for info....

    Indeed! Just don’t plan to program a 100p in rpm2. It’s not supported. -B

    M7100 Feature String Question

Hi, with Harris radios, it’s best to know this info before buying. This is just advice as you potentially hunt a radio to accomplish a specific task. That said, you can use the menus in the radio to tell you the feature numbers, which correlate directly to features. You’ll need to make sure...

Please explain LTE functionality in an XL radio. What does it add?

That’s got to include BeON, which is really the only way LTE becomes of any use unless you are leveraging mcptt. As @mmckenna mentioned, the actual sim and cell service is cheap cheap, since it’s not a voice service. It should be less than $10/mo/device to get it in a cell network. The rest of...

Harris p7200 Public Safety Speaker Mic

I haven’t seen anything in the software or in the radio menu, but it could be that a certain pin in the UDC is shorted or carries a particular resistance when a speaker mic includes an antenna jack. This is how the radio knows a Keyload cable is present instead of a standard programming cable...

    XG-75P ACC license locked

That shouldn’t matter. I’ve never programmed a 75, so I can’t speak to the differences in programming. All I know is that you get errors like the one you describe when you lack system keys for the system in the read program. -B

    XG-75P ACC license locked

That should just mean that there is a trunked set already programmed and you cannot modify the trunked program because you lack the necessary system key(s). You should be able to just write a new program to the radio with your own channels/systems. It’s just telling you that you can’t modify...

    Harris M7100's beep on reception

Ya, try a repeater and see if it beeps. If not, there’s probably a talkaround notification enabled. I just don’t remember where those settings are and I’m at work. -B

    Harris M7100's beep on reception

Does this happen on simplex, repeaters, or both? I haven’t messed with my P7100 programming for a while, but I know my XL200P has a talkaround warning, so it beeps anytime the TX and RX frequencies on a given channel are the same. -B
