For the last several days I keep hearing what sounds like a 1000 Hz tone on one of the Safe-T channels on the Petersburg Tower. It's about 1 second long every few minutes. Any ideas why?

No voice. It has stopped since this morning. I heard it all weekend, every couple of minutes. In fact, I never heard any voice activity on this particular frequency

Hello Indiana!

On my local system, 1000Hz tones have been used for a couple of things..

1. Test tones enabled by a tech.
2. Marking a repeater (pre and post PTT) that is having hardware issues.

I've heard repeaters on this system (753f) give tone before and after a voice call when they are near the end of their useful life. I don't know if it's an automatic function or if it's coincidental (kind of like letting the smoke out), but it's a fairly dependable indicator.
