I was only able to hear one side but signal was strong from the Tango unit. He was communicating with Romeo Whiskey. Here is an mp3 recording for anybody that is interested. Audio: 11190_Air_Intercept_Comms.mp3 (dead air removed)

Later heard another station Uniform but their signal was pretty garbled on my end.

Caleb what is the URL for the remote radio if you are listening to it online? I am wondering if I can pick up any signal up here in Michigan.

"Rose Bowl" & "Salt Lake City" are not references to the actual places, but are brevity/OPSEC codes for other geographical locations.

Based on the mentioning of "side #s," the callsigns (which are definitely being used as callsigns but are actually Link-11/TADIX participating unit identifiers), & the use of "interrogative," it's definitely a Navy Task Force's Anti-Air Warfare net.

Cool stuff! Most of the guys talking are Operations Specialists ("OSs"), not Info Sys Techs (the old Radioman rating) & are located on the Bridges & Combat Direction Centers of ships, plus airborne early warning & control aircraft like the E-2Cs, and then also a shore-based command center or two might be on the net.

Other agencies can & do participate at times, but the whole thing about a US Navy/NATO Battle Group is self-sufficiency, so most of the time the participants are US/Allied Navy.

On 11190usb at 02:41UTC this date I had Golf Whiskey working Romeo Whiskey. Had S7 to S9 signal on both stations. Several minutes of chatter and then silence.

What callsigns are you referring to as Link-11/TADIX identifiers? The single letter Golf, Tango, and Charlie kinds of calls?
