I was listening to your recorded audio and heard the "Global Whiskey"
This is the Global Thunder Exercise. It's a major nuclear exercise that happens once a year.
There was a report of this on HF Monitors the other day ... with different callsigns. They were using 11175khz though.

Hmm, now I'm really thinking about getting a SDR. It would be nice to have that capability.
Signal strength coming back up to S4-S5 now...

You know how I feel about mine...I would only say to look for one that has network-capable software (I like a nice cushy leather chair to sit in while I have my headphones on). :wink:
My next goal is to get an actual HF receiver that works with the panadaptor connection on the SDR-IQ.

Anyways I was trying to see how you guys were getting them at your locations so we could figure out where they were. Judging by how we all heard them (California Colorado and Washington) and it was an obvious excercise due to what Nick knew and the fact that they seemingly were staying within a certain area-you guys think they were in Nevada then?

FWiw it's active again now all the players are seemingly off in the same distance except for one aircraft that seems to be very close to me here-he is " Tango" wow this is a busy frequency.

signal strength is low. in Michigan. do you now what thay are up to?
I hear some activity but not terribly strong right now.

That makes me think even more they are here in the west-I couldn't begin to decipher what they are saying-talking like "Tengo this is Juliet resetting confirming to 624-out" stuff like this
I am surprised you are getting them weak given your relative closeness to me-that means they are operating further up this way?

So far we have "Juliet" "Romeo Charlie" and "Tengo" and now "Whisky"

I was going to post early this morning, but I was too tired. The frequency has been active all night long since I first heard it yesterday. Stations were very weak but did get really strong at about 1500z today.
The signals are fair now - at about S7.
