Heard Vestavia Hills mentioned and Birmingham also on this frequency. I live 120 miles northwest of Birmingham. I was monitoring this frequency among others for Air Evac activity outside the state. Just wondered what this might be? Thanks.

Hello. It's usually for power, water, or gas companies. Here's a list of licensees in AL:

It's Alabama Gas CO. Didn't know they still used VHF, I haven't monitored that one in
years.

My dad works for Alagasco, they still maintain their vhf repeaters as a backup. I believe that Nextel is now their primary way to communicate. Here in Tuscaloosa the construction department still uses the repeater on a regular basis.
