I am searching VHF highband currently and I have received traffic on 158.940, DPL 156 with data bursts. I don't find anything in the RR database.

In the FCC database I found a repeater in Gila County and the input to a Wickenburg VHF repeater with an output of 155.685. Where I live either could be possible.

Anyone know for sure?

Years ago, this was the unlicensed VHF simplex 'chat' channel for Peoria PD. That function died when a new Chief of Police was hired and the 'Billy Bob' radio service techs were fired and Canyon State Radio [the-then Motorola dealer and service center] took over everything RF.

Peoria wasn't and isn't licensed for it then or now.

The radio used was a Midland mobile as I recall.

Well, I am pretty sure it is Wickenburg, I am hearing the same data bursts on 155.685 now with my new antenna.

That was the 80's into the early 90's. Known as VHF channel 2, as it was in the channel 2 slot of their VHF-High mobile radios, which also had Phoenix FD, Phoenix PD, Glendale PD, VHF Mutual Aid and maybe a few others. Not every cruiser had a VHF-High mobile radio, though.

I did a couple of ride-alongs when I was in high school at the time. Their UHF radio had a couple of channels for other agencies a well. Phoenix PDs UHF 1, 2 & 3, MCSO West and West Tac, etc.
