Thanks, the only notation I had on this freq was WELL South [NYC Area] of you Looks like a new find.

?? What scanner do you run ?? The Newer Unidens can handle what is called "Single Freq Trunk" which will ultimatly Decode the Radio ID [RID] of the units. With that info, you can match the units to other frequencies that the RID has been heard on and try and determine who/what they actually are :) Here in Boston we have found/tracked the ICE Agents over on CBP Freq's and vice-versa along with some other NON CBP/ICE/BP agencies having access :)

Sounded local to me. I do not have an external antenna hooked to my 197 just one of them back of the set type. There have been ICE agents in the past at the Social Security Administration and that building is just a few blocks from me. IRS also has a office here in Poughkeepsie as well. And from time to time I have seen homeland security vehicles around every once and a while too.

Bill I am using a RadioShack Pro 197. I think it might do what you are talking about. I have come across some freqs in a search I was obvious that it was a LTR freq because of the noise in the background of the signal and it was giving me the TGID info.

Not sure which models, outside of Uniden can do it, give it a try on most of your common P25 FED's and you might begin to see the pattern for RID's
