Has anyone heard anything on this frequency 1740 KHz? A couple days ago, from my monitoring post in central Florida, I received a very strong station on this frequency speaking in Arabic on my GP5. Listening over the the top of the hour, there was no ID in any language. Although my GP5 is susceptible to overloading and receiving spurious signals when I attach a long wire antenna, this signal was clean, and I received a slightly weaker version of the signal when I unattached the wire. Furthermore, I don't believe there any AM stations in Florida that broadcast in Arabic, at least not in central Florida. The only other possibility of it being a spurious signal would be from WRMI in Okeechobee, but I don't believe they have any Arabic programming, or at least they usually ID on the hour, being an american station. Any ideas? Anyone else in Florida heard this station?

You might want to check your local MW stations to see if it is indeed overload; if not, it's more likely a mixing product of some kind. Pirates and some TIS stations are in this range, but that's about it. AFAIK....Mike
