Awesome Install

I had to jump in here! Why care who he works for or doesn't work for? He has a sweet setup that I bet we would all accept in our in own vehicles if it was a prize in the eRadioReference/Hamsexy Sweepstakes. I would love that nice of a setup in my own vehicle, Heck i'll even take the strobe installation. If he said he was the Chief of the police department in your town would you feel better? Or would you prefer he say " I just enjoy electronics, scanners, computers, DIY projects and good audio" What if he said he like to drive around town and listen to his scanner in his car, like WE all do. This is why I don't post pictures of my vehicle even though I am no stranger to pushing a Crown Vic or Chevy Impala or Expedition around for 40 hours a week. Great Install! please post more pics.

Love the install!! Do you know that they make a device that will let you hook all your radios up to one speaker and still have volume control for all your radios? The device is around $250 I think.

The product is from Fleet Radio Products, the cost is $199.99. This model comes with a mute button.

I'm guessing this is the product you're speaking about Boston.

That is one slick looking explorer!! I also have a 2003 Explorer and I was about to post asking for suggestions on where a good place to mount a scanner would be. Before I did I ran a search and found this post.. NICE!! I only have one major question. I'd like to know how you routed all of your wires..

Man, I love it! I have a 2000 exploder right now, and will probably be replacing it with your body style, or an expedition. I would like to get the drop in console like you have, but I'm a little worried about how many radio's I'd be able to fit in there. I currently have in my console - SW400, BCT15, BCD996T, ICv8000. Do you think I could fit 4 units AND cupholders in there?

That must be a different console than the stock one, I have an O3 Explorer and there's no way those radios would fit in MY vehicle. Nice setup, by the way I like the black better than my white one. Hopefully you are a firefighter, cop or EMT. Otherwise why would you need that siren or strobes? Anyway, nice radios! I usually run with a magmount antenna and my handhelds in the cupholders. I would like to install a radio but don't have the know how and husband probably wouldn't do well with it so I just use the portables that can be removed easily.

Holy crap, what brought this thread back from the grave?

Before I put my lightbar on my vehicle I had LED's in front grill and TIR6's on rear lift gate.
Having emergency lights, in and of itself, does not make you a whacker. But if you go around calling them by their model numbers, and actually expect that everyone knows what you're talking about, then yeah... you're way too into it.

And being associated with an "agency" doesn't exempt you from being a whacker. If the value of your emergency equipment is greater than fifty-percent of the value of your vehicle, you're a whacker, even if you are carrying a badge.

That might make sense on a forum like elightbars.com, where flashing lights are their lives. But I'm thinking that it's a microscopic number of people here on a commo forum that has the slightest clue what "TIR6's" are.

Question

I probably should know this but what is a "whacker". If it's what I think it is, I may be one myself. I have a handheld Yaesu that I bought from a reputable online dealer with freq modification. I can Tx/Rx in both VHF and UHF public safety bands ---- BUT I DON'T!! But that doesn't mean I haven't "kerchunked" the repeater a time or two. There I confessed it - I feel much better.

If a man wants red lights and a siren in his ride, then that is between local law enforcement, his insurance agent, and himself.

Re; 2003 Explorer

WOW! Looks as good as any I have seen. And again...WOW!

I see no one asked, so I will. Did you do the install yourself, or did you have professional help?

Stay Safe,
John
