A question for you:

I notice 2 GE mobile radios, but 1 motorola DTMF mike, and 1 GE mike. Have you modified one of your radios to accept the Motorola mike? But, looks like one nice install job. really nice

More GE radios - cool! Have those been modified for front panel programming? That really makes them even more useful. I was thinking about using the Deltas with the S990 heads in my '87 Blazer install but I didn't really have a good place for the rear units so I opted for the MVS models. The console setup is nice!

Thanks for the positive comments. I'd say there's about 6-8 hours worth of work there. I'm not a newbie, but fortunately I'm friends with a ham radio guy who knows more than I do. He helped out with the main part of the install, which was running wires & tapping into the power. The Deltas have been modified for front programming and that Motorola DTMF mic had a GE connector installed on it somehow. I still need to install another cigar plug outlet and clean up/zip tie some of that cabling in the trunk, but other than that I'm pretty happy with the current setup.

I like it! However, you need to do something with this

Get the wiring under the carpet. You can pass it along the sides and behind the back seat. That way, no wires are visible.

Looks great! I was going to ask if you had them modified for FPP but i see you do by your last post. They have a great scan and are actually a nice layout on the heads.

One question, do you have any ham band stuff in them? I had a pile of Delta's here that took me forever to dispose of because they sucked on 2m. Go below 147 and they weren't that sensitive unless you added a preamp to them. A few of them were ok down to 146 after a full once over and adjustments but still not worth all the effort. But in the band intended, 150-174, they work great!

I finally got rid of the rest of them, nice to see the shelves empty again. I have all the info for modifying the control heads on my website under Radio Mods, including the needed files for the Eproms, etc..

I don't have any objection to the way you ran the wiring, its neat and in loom, i wouldn't bother tearing up the car to hide it behind trim panels or under the carpet. Its easily accessible if needed, and not in a place that will be a big pain to anyone. One minor suggestion... I helped on an install where we ran the cabling in about the same location, we took a piece of matching color automotive carpet and folded the edges over and stitched on some velcro to make a nice cover piece, no split loom tubing needed. Just put over the velcro cover and you don't even know its there. But if you need to get to the wiring to add, remove, or repair anything just pull it off. Its also removable for cleaning, etc.

But again, no objection to the way you have it, heck of a lot easier then starting to tear stuff apart, and i have done that plenty of times!

Nice installs It's good to see Ge's still being used especially the delta radios with the S990 control
heads.

Why not use lip mounts to keep from drilling holes in the trunk lid?

This is all a matter of opinion, but to me if you can drilling holes for antennas is cleaner looking and they can always be plugged later if you need to resell the vehicle
