So another install posted today got me to start thinking and working on my Jetta. I bought this car in June of this year. It had 35,000Km on it. In pristine condition. Missing only the English user manual!
Warning: This is a work in progress. It is not done yet, and will take the next few weeks to finish as I have time. Wife, 11 month old baby, and work all take precedence over the hobby.
While I would LOVE to have my TK-8180 and NX-700 in this car, it is NOT going to happen. Not enough room.
After sitting in the car with the faceplate, and placing it in various locations, evaluating how functional/in the way it was, I came away not impressed with how unfriendly this car is towards radios. Compounded by needing to be wife friendly as well.

In the overhead sunglasses holder. Well more precisely, in that space, after I removed the compartment door. The control head is secured by 2 bolts in the top right side of the control head bracket. I drilled two holes in the plastic of the compartment to line up with the AMPS pattern I drilled in my control head bracket. The control head cable is routed through the hole that the sunglasses compartment door was attached too. The 4 pin modular plug fit through. The hole lined up with were the cable enters the bracket, and there is enough room to be able to detach the control head if need be.
I did not have the time today to finish routing the CH cable. I have to figure out its route. Between the sunroof and curtain airbags, it is going to take some time all on its own.
The antenna is currently on a magmount, but will be drilled as time allows. Hopefully soon.

Edit: No RF deck and No antenna pictures yet. It is pretty low rent except for the control head. For sure not up to snuff for photos
