Bought this new 2016 Dodge Ram Sport Crew Cab and finished my install. Setup included 2 Uniden BCD996XT scanners with GPS units and remote heads. Also I installed an Icom R-2500 receiver with remote head. The remote heads fit perfectly into the factory center console storage bin. The scanners are mounted in the center console lower large storage compartment under the armrest. The Icom receiver is mounted inside the center console lid's upper storage compartment. It's remote head (which features dual-watch) mounted perfectly in another factory storage bin in the center console. External speakers for all three mounted on the driver's side of the center console.
Four NMO mounts were installed in the roof. The Uniden scanners are using e/m wave 800 mhz whips and the Icom receiver, which has two antenna ports, has two dedicated roof mount antennas. Depending on what I want to monitor with the Icom receiver, I use anything from a Larsen 27 mhz whip to a phantom low profile antenna.
Credit for the NMO mounts goes to Brian at Vasu Communications Inc. of Avon, Ohio. Also had them install a dedicated fused power and ground wire from the battery through the firewall to my center console. I installed a single rocker switch on the side of the center console that controls ALL power to the radios and GPS units, to avoid unintentional battery drain when the vehicle is turned off for long periods of time.
This truck was an easy install due to the large factory center console which was easy to take apart and run wires beneath for a clean install.
