Here is the setup for my new to me RAV4. I had a nmo hole mount for my previous vehicle but was a bit hesitant on this one. Went ahead and drilled the hole as the mag mount just wasn’t doing it for me on a recent cross country trip. It was easy to do as I only had to drop the headliner slightly in the rear cargo area. I don’t regret doing it.
I use a VHF antenna for most of the roadtrips as pictured and it works fine for me in all bands. Around town I use a UHF low profile as I’m usually only scanning 400 and 800.
For the scanner mount I am using a Lido Brand Cupholder mount. I routed all the wires and put inside wire conduit. It’s not perfect but I’m satisfied with how it turned out.
Also have a gps hooked to the scanner. I pretty much have my whole state location programmed per county and dept, so I don’t have to listen to everything on the full database. Even got detailed with the coordinates and radius using a mapping website. But I use the database exclusively when out of state.
Only thing I would change is getting an angled BNC connector.
Thanks for looking.
