jargon is a little dense - "detailers" are dispatchers hired to fill in for a couple of weeks at a time - IMT is Incident Management Team - 1 request could not be filled in 2020 - COVID was a hassle - etc

pg 6 of 43 - radio tech caught squirrel, skunk and quail - photos

lots of info in this report - includes costs for aircraft - info on lightning fires - fuel moisture info - Natl Weather Service false alarm rate - etc etc

Detailers are agency employees who accept temporary duty assignments in other jobs. Every function can utilize detailers. They are used frequently when a position is vacant, but the hiring process to fill the position has not been completed yet. Often times they become "acting" Forest Supervisors, District Rangers, Division Chiefs (Fire Management Officers), Battalion Chiefs (AFMO), Recreation Officers, Timber Officers, Resource Officers and others when no one on the staff of those functions is qualified or willing to take the acting position. Details are great for gaining experience and strengthening resumes. People can take a detail when they are qualified but may not have much experience at the level the job they are filling is at. Some people are not as focused on their resumes, they just want to see some new ground, finding out what the position is like and widening their experiences, without looking for promotions. The military calls these assignments "TDY's" or Temporary Duty or Temporary Duty Orders.
