This March and April has been busy with booms

Sounds like Whitman AFB A-10s are up at Volk. Could be an interesting week!

Nothing heard today. Then again rest of the week much better wx.

No booms with A-10s, they can't go that fast!! Volk MOAs were very active in the afternoon and evening on the 12th. 115thFW vipers (BADGER, BUCKY, SIJAN flights) went up on two sorties to practice with the 442ndFW A-10s (HOG flights). 1500 and 1915 departures from MSN. One viper in the second launch had to return in to MSN with a fuel transfer problem.

Had a 2 ship helos near Eau Claire on Sat, May 1st. They were on the Wiscom TG 8498.

They flew 5/3 and 5/4. Launching at 4:00pm and again at sunset...2+4 Monday, 1+4 Tuesday. They refueled in the Oshkosh AR track, and worked Hardwood.

Any comments on how current and accurate this list is ? - RR Volk Frequencies.

Are there any additional frequencies typically used, I'm thinking air-air frequencies. Listening to LiveATC Chicago 133.950 this evening and they cleared WI ANG F-16s (BUCKY and BADGER flights) into the Volk Complex and told them to contact "Phoenix", what frequency would that be ? Thanks for any info.

Phoenix is 346.525. 253.975 is active for WI ANG air to air. 138.450 sometimes too.

Surprised I heard not much traffic or loud overhead planes in pm this week

They were flying air to ground last week (and this week). Gun range and practice bombs. Probably not a lot of ACM.

142.225 has been very active the last few nights. I haven't grabbed a callsign.

Not sure if directly related, but Volk has been busy with refueling operations during the same time period. There have been 4 to 6 tankers up at once the past week or so.

OILER72 KC135 operating in Volk with VIPER11 F16 and GUARDIAN command. Operating on 313.550 and 358.800.

References to "STAR ALPHA" channel - maybe a secure channel or Satcomm? Also references to 3019 HF.

Expect increased military flight activity daily Aug. 9-20 between 9:30 AM and 4 PM in conjunction with the annual Northern Lightning exercise at Volk Field. Expect many booms
