Some very impressive loggings in recent days from all of you! (y) I am hearing nothing here in NJ, beyond 10M AM & FM simplex / repeaters and local VHF fire paging above 30 MHz. Part of the problem is the very high noise floor I have locally.

I know my antennas are fine, an attic 27MHz groundplaneand an outdoor sloper - I have heard DX with these antennas before. The attic groundplane brought in plenty of VHF low DX going back to Cycle 22. Receivers are mainly a BCT-15X and a Bearcat 210XLT.

I'll keep searching!
I hear most of mine from 8am to 11 am CST here in TN. Some i hear with squelch turned off try that.Angelo

There are still fire departments using this range and they conduct pager tests in the late afternoon/evening.

See if you can match up your 33 MHz captures with the other logs in this thread.

I am enjoying these logging posts. While I normally don't monitor much VHF low these days, reminds me of talking DX out of my police vehicle in 1979 and 1980 on 39.5. Was pretty neat stuff. (ya kind of got in trouble for it too but hey). :)
Glad you're enjoying the logs - at least for me, it's a decent amount of work and I appreciate that people appreciate it.

And on that note, today's captures from Southern California:

Agreed with Marvin. Believe it or not, just like VHF and UHF, there are multiple agencies all over lowband, all on the same frequency. In fact, I routinely hear a semi-local agency that gets clobbered by another agency on the same channel that's 2800 miles away. And I'm good with that :)

I don't think the primary user hears the distant user within their coverage area, I think that happens due to where I'm located. They're using directional antennas as well.

Basically, without a tone provided, it's anyone's guess who it could be. Though in certain circumstances, *confirming* the *lack* of PL also helps identify who it is, but you need to be certain there wasn't *any* PL received.

Ex:

33.920 NO PL = Lancaster Co, PA Fire Dispatch
33.920 PL 167.9 = Riverside Co, CA Disaster Net

If you aren't tracking tones, you're going to have a difficult time unless you're doing reverse-lookups on addresses to determine county and state, but even those can be difficult due to common street names, etc.

And the lack of FCC database availability right now is causing me quite the backlog in research on quite a few unknowns I'm trying to track down.

Part of the problem with legacy low band systems is that many of them have been carrier squelch since Day One -- which could have been 1958. Some systems added CTCSS over the years but many did not. That means you have to listen for call signs, dispatch center identifiers, street names, town names, regional dialect, and time zones to help narrow things down. All part of the fun of DXing low band!

Strange for french 35 MHz step and pl . 35 Mhz is used for some motorway (Autoroute du sud de la France : ASF ; motorways south france . Signalisation is BIIS 1200 . I have to check if my local repeaters have pl . Generally step is 12.5 khz . 31.320 MHz could be urban light management .

Is anyone using a database prgm or spreadsheet to keep track of these excellent frequency posts?

All of my posts are logged into a notepad .TXT file, and also transcribed into RR. At the end of each year, I close out that file and start a new one. I always make the "core log" files available to whomever wants them, @marvinsuggs loves 'em. So yes - mine are archived and "public" if requested when the year is closed out.

There are some messed up 10 meter repeaters out there. N6LIV 29.660 just keys over and over non stop. Recently, 29.680 has been doing the same with faster re-keys.
I've heard 29.680 during band openings. 29.640 is NY and local to me. I think 29.620 is is KQ2H, upstate NY, but I have not heard it recently.

I'll have to see about 29.620 next time it's open up that way, I used to talk there occasionally. that thing was pretty good usually here when the band was open. I don't do a lot of 10 FM but occasionally when it's really good I like to get on there.
