All, I use my 325P2 mobile a lot. I have a vent mount batcket I use to hold the radio. I have tried to use an external speaker that I also use for my Yaesu FT-7800 but the audio output from the scanner is way too low to hear on the road as compared to the Yaesu. The scanner is easier to hear with the external speaker unplugged and just turning up the volume 3/4 straight from the scanner. Would I need an amplified speaker to properly use on the road? Any suggestions?

Just remember that the BC23A's amplifier turns off automatically when not receiving audio. So, when a transmission is received you will miss the first couple of milliseconds which may or may not be important. Advertisements make no mention of this issue. Otherwise, it is a nice speaker.

I had no idea that it acts that way. Hmmm Thanks for the heads up.

That problem can be remedied by soldering a 10K resistor to the circuit board. It will keep the amp from shutting off.
