The late Don Gaze, dispatcher for the Greenville Co SC Sheriff dept would sign on at 12:m for the nite shift on 37.10MHz. " This is K - I - C - 2 - 3 - 1 Greenville County Sheriffs Department Greenville South Carolina where the moon comes over the mountain in fruit jars. Often I would stay up late on Fri/Sat just to hear him.
The above quote is from an old thread on this site, ca 2003. The reason I included it is it reminded me of something I used to hear on 3885 kc (80 Meters) AM. I don't remember the guy's name or call, but there used to be a regular on the frequency who had a huge signal and used to sign off with "(name of county and state) where the moon comes over the mountain in gallon jugs."
I think this guy was in North Carolina, but it could have been South Carolina. His transmitter sounded like a broadcast station, and in fact I think he was running a Gates broadcast transmitter. The SSB guys hated him.
Anyone remember this? It was only a few years before the quoted post; mid to late '90s.
