Belt clip
Bc-396 XT
In 35 years of scanning (and many radios later), I think this is the best scanner ever.
My favorite features (besides its compact size) have to be the unique "Startup Configuration", "Temporary Lockout", and "System Hold" and of course large memory capacity. With a little bit of pre-planning, and computer control, it is like having 10 scanners in one.
I do have two gripes with the scanner.
The first is the lack of a hardcopy manual. I overcame this with a combination of the my 396 manual, and lots of trial and error.
The second would be the belt clip issue. This was overcome with a simple mod on my part. I removed the metal lug from the scanner and replaced it with a belt clip from a Stanley 25 ft tape measure. The one issue was with finding a small screw to match the threading on the radio. It is probably not the best solution for extended or active use, but it does reduce the profile of the radio and allows it to fit in my pocket. The clip also comes in handy to attach the radio to a stand, (in my case that would be a $ 2.99 metal bookend from Staples)
