I Realize You are From Down under, But For My 396, I Got It From Scannermaster.

Go To this Sites Front page & You Will See The Link For It.

It Was Awhile Ago, I Forget What I Paid For It.

Iam also looking for a belt clip. I looked at Scannermaster's website but can't find any information on it. And Uniden's website always has it listed on backorder. Is there any other place I can get it from?

Thanks

... has got to be the worst ever belt-clip design I've ever see. About my only complaint with my 396

Has anyone found a normal style belt clip to replace this ridiculous swivel thing?

Don't get me wrong, I commend Uniden for trying to put a real swivel on it, but a) it's not a real swivel and b) it's a bad one at that--doesn't even fit on a sam browne. The 3rd party leather cases with professional swivels are good if that's what you need.

I'm interested in a taking off the post and having a regular steel belt clip. This scanner is so small, it's a shame to have it dorkily sticking out an extra inch on an unstable plastic widget :(

Hmmm.. so far, all of the links posted are no good... I found a black belt clip on the 123radios site, but not the blue one. How does it attach to the 396XT?

Belt clip

Bc-396 XT
In 35 years of scanning (and many radios later), I think this is the best scanner ever.
My favorite features (besides its compact size) have to be the unique "Startup Configuration", "Temporary Lockout", and "System Hold" and of course large memory capacity. With a little bit of pre-planning, and computer control, it is like having 10 scanners in one.

I do have two gripes with the scanner.
The first is the lack of a hardcopy manual. I overcame this with a combination of the my 396 manual, and lots of trial and error.
The second would be the belt clip issue. This was overcome with a simple mod on my part. I removed the metal lug from the scanner and replaced it with a belt clip from a Stanley 25 ft tape measure. The one issue was with finding a small screw to match the threading on the radio. It is probably not the best solution for extended or active use, but it does reduce the profile of the radio and allows it to fit in my pocket. The clip also comes in handy to attach the radio to a stand, (in my case that would be a $ 2.99 metal bookend from Staples)

I was just going to post my frustration on this!! My belt clip broke so I went to the Uniden site and THOUGHT I ordered a new belt clip. Of course, when they don't have any pictures it makes things a little more difficult. But I ordered what was called "Belt Clip 396" and then there was a "Belt Clip Accessory 396" so wouldn't you assume that belt clip MEANS belt clip? Came in the mail today and it's the accessory, metal screw part. So now I guess I am out the money and still don't have a belt clip. Very frustrating. As someone mentioned none of the links above work. Why can't Uniden just make it obvious what to order - you know, like place a picture??? Maybe have a number to call for verification? I sure can't even find that. Just had to vent...

I got a custom leather case for my 396T from grove-ent.com.

Obviously, you have to remove the whole Uniden original swivel assembly (and that stupid stud that sticks out the back). I threw them back in the box and have never used the belt clip since.
