396xt dat display question

Just received a new 396xt. I could not take the blue 396t display color any longer. I have noticed that when monitoring a p25 system I no longer see "dat" in the display next to the control freq like I do on the 369t and 996t. The 396xt seems to be monitoring the system ok. I have been through all the display modes on the 396xt. Is this normal not to see the "dat" in the 396xt display?

I see the P25 and LNK. I remember seeing the DAT on my "T" but don't recall seeing it on the "XT" which I recently upgraded to.

I should clarify. The 396t will show dat while displaying the freq without a voice transmission, then show p25 while receiving voice transmission. The 396xt will not show dat while displaying the freq but will then show p25 while receiving voice transmission.

According to the BCD396XT Easier-to-Read Manual (Display Mode 1) :

P25 appears if the channel is receiving digitized voice in Receiving or Hold Modes.
LNK appears if the channel is receiving data in Receiving or Hold Modes.
DAT appears if the control channel is being received in Receiving or Hold Modes.
ENC appears if the channel is receiving encrypted voice in Receiving or Hold Modes.

I am at work and don't have a P25 system to check it on at the moment.

I have attached a photo of the 396xt and 396t side by side. The 396xt is not showing the "dat" while the 396t is. I also have a 996t which also shows the "dat" programmed with the same system. I have programmed each receiver with the proper arc program. There maybe some setting in a sub menu of the 396xt I am not familiar with but any suggestion or explanation would be of help.

I can't get my 396t to show DAT, it goes from P25 to LNK and back. I thought it use to show DAT but not now, Thinking maybe your right that it is in a setting somewhere in both T and XT models.

Thanks for the reply. I cant seem to find anything in the scanner settings or the software settings. I guess I will have to live with it......

The 396XT will only show DAT in certain conditions:

-If you manually hold on a 9600 baud control channel without CTCSS/DCS search turned on.

-After the scanner reverts back to the CC on a 9600 system after a voice call.

-Holding on a talkgroup in a 9600 system.

With the second and third conditions, you also have to be in display mode one. The 396XT will not show DAT on Motorola systems using P25 voice. (Smarnet/Smartzone) Someone correct me if I'm wrong on anything please.
