440th MKE Shut Down

Anyone know when the 440th TRS at Mitchell International is shutting down?
The Journal Sentinel has been reporting the base is closing in Feb. Is that the total shut down or just military operations?
I know that the bases are "active" with civilians after all the military leaves so you would expect Security and probably Fire to remain until the place is abandon or sold.
Just trying to anticipate the 440th's UHF TRS going off the air.

Yes there is. The system is still up and running with activity. Scott just wonders when the system will go off the air.

should be going off pretty soon, im in the 128th, and i think they are done for good early feb. We will be taking over base maintenance until someone else buys it or whatever will be happening

Is the radio system going to be totally removed?

Should be, ive seen most of it crated up already.

As of 1/22/08 the control channels are gone. No activity on any freq. I would say the radio system is gone.

I deleted the system from my PSR-600 & BCD996T this morning.

The 128th is there still, and the digital frequencies in the airport. The Kenosha Police are good, and Milwaukee County P25 system is still not being used much. So we just don't have a lot of digital being used around Milwaukee at this time.

Mitchel Composite Squadron 5 of the Civil Air Patrol is still meeting at the 440th. Aside from them and security I don't think theres any activity going on at the base.

I noticed the aircraft that used to stop in at 440th now park over at Signature,not sure if they are just refueling or what.
