Someone posted a message on the SCAN-Balt bulletin board about copying MD air nat gd radio traffic and numerous MSP barracks (seemingly repeated) on 458.125 in the BWI area. I have yet to copy anything in Northern Balt Co....anyone have the scoop on this? Maybe a mobile repeater for military police of some sort in the area?

According to the poster, it's only active on weekdays. It's an odd frequency, to be sure; I'm going to check into it on Monday. I haven't been able to get onto the FCC database to see who has the frequency licensed.

I checked the FCC database after posting the above and it's licensed to a bunch of counties...Frederick, Kent, Dorchester, St, Mary's, Cecil, Prince Georges, Montgomery and the Maryland State MIEMSS. So, it's not much help to discovering the net nor does it make it look like it's confined to the BWI area.

However, if you look at a particular license like Prince Georges County, it's on the same license with all the MED freqs at 462/463 mHz. Just checked Montgomery County and the same situation exists there. Same for MIEMSS. In fact, it looks the same for all the counties. Oh, and MSP is not listed for this freq. It gets stranger. Hmmm.

I'm not familiar with the SCAN-Balt BBS, can someone point me there ?

Thanks

I'm sure he means the Scan-DC list over on QTH.net. There is a Scan Baltimore egroup at Yahoo as well. Kevin and I were talking about this odd freq over on Scan-DC. There is a very old BBS called Open Channel Bulletin Board (301-203-8478; 8-N-1) but whether it's up or not I don't know.

I've been listening (with RecAll) to the freq all morning, and while I've gotten some traffic, it's much too weak over here in Glen Burnie to make out anything definite. Hope others have had better luck. 73s Mike

Doing a little research, it seems the 458.125 freq may be a generic portable frequency for medic units to go along with 462/463 EMRC group.

I'm getting too much slop from 453.1375, which is the MTA garage maintenance and courtesy patrols in the BWI area (input is +5 mhz) - but I think there definitely is something there; it's just too weak and I'm getting too much desense to do anything with it. Anyone else having better luck?
