As I was driving today I heard "attention in the pit, attention in the pit. ?????? wristbands. Have a safe night"
This was in the area of Whitter Blvd. and the 605 freeway.
Then later at I5 and Carmenita I heard, "Attention in the pit, Attention in the pit. Get your burgers and fries and drinks at the speedy cafe."
This was on 460.025, the old OC red channel. I didn't get a tone as I was driving but did confirm the frequency.
It didn't sound like it was a repeater, sounded simplex. Could be wrong.

Anyone in those areas that can listen in?

Thanks,
Randy

That is CA LAW 4, which used to be known as CLEMARS UHF. Of course, Orange County had to name it something proprietary for them.

There is significant infrastructure on that channel in LA, Orange and San Diego counties. Normally it is a very quiet channel.

If in fact it's being used by a business, that's a real problem.

That's why it surprised me as what I heard was not law enforcement.
At first I thought it might be security at a casino then I heard the burger and fries announcement.

Okay I can hear it in Garden Grove, it is a repeater. Tone is 192.8
Just made an announcement that gates open at 11:30am tomorrow and for everyone to have a good night.

Race Track?

If I recall, that is the LA tone. Might be wrong on that. This would bear some major investigation in my opinion.

Wonder if it's one of these traveling carnivals or something. Can you record any of the audio?

Closest "speedy cafe" is in La Habra at the Speedway gas station, but that doesn't make sense for this.

Irwindale raceway has a big show tomorrow night. "Attention in the pit" could mean it is only for the race pit area not the general seating area?
Are there any other raceways besides Irwindale and Fontana? Must be using a hill top for a repeater if I can hear it down in the OC.
I'm going to set up theSDS100 to record tomorrow.

Irwindale does have a Speedway Cafe at the track, I just looked it up.
I wonder how many other unlicensed public safety frequencies they are using?

Yesterday, from roughly 0900L to 1600L, I heard 3 or 4 "attention in the pit" announcements, at least two of which came through a repeater encoding 192.8 (which wasn't in the 2020 CalIFOG as one of the valid state or local tones, but is listed for Cal OES as "LA Metro" in RRDB). Today, I heard nothing but a couple of kerchunks during roughly the same time period. I'll note there was an event at Irwindale yesterday (not today). Anyone hear anything last night (it was an evening event)?

I've heard quite a few stockcar racing teams in Wisconsin using 430-449 yes 70cm. Sad
I'm a racefan, but I'm not a fan of unlicensed teams tracks on ham and other govt/fire pd channels. Lot of teams buying radios online and programming what ever they want. I sent a email to a track owner to remind them 430to 449..... is 70cm ham band. That guy a teams attention. But it's still a issue.

You missed your calling as a cop, Sean. Christ almighty. You need a helmet with red and blue lights on it.

I'll let the agency that maintains the LA Metro CA LAW 4 repeater know.
