I recognize a voice on this frequency tonight and I have ran the fcc call sign search and no luck . It's out of Washington county area but no luck on the call sign search . At 1st I thought it might be assigned to the county EOC office but it's not listed on the fcc site or RR database..

I'll have to do some more research on the frequency. The frequency is a gmrs repeater.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it

The lowest GMRS repeater input frequency is 467.550 MHz. It would show on the radio either as channel 23 or 15R.

Figured it out. It's 462.475 .

The voice I recognize is on the county EOC. What I can't figure out is how can a gmrs system be allowed since it's only for family use ? . Far as I can remember the system has been used for Storm chasing not for family use.

A few posts on this tread already, but as has been posted above 462.475 isn't GMRS.

462.475 is the repeater output the frequency the repeater transmits on. 467.475 would be the input frequency the one mobiles and handheld radios transmit on. This is the standard for this band.

Please read all the posts on this tread.

GMRS can be used between users with different callsigns. The local CERT teams use GMRS for nets. The also own and sponsor a few of the local GMRS repeaters.

Also GMRS is heavily used for off road or Jeep people for communications, rather than CB. These groups mostly use a Midland GMRS mobile radios.
