I have been picking this TG up this afternoon on site 3 UCAN. Talking about some kind of flooding and getting sand bags in place and guiding traffic through streets. Not sure of location. Anyone else hearing this too?

I did not hear that radio traffic, but I'm sure it will be something to do with Saratoga Springs or Herriman. Being on UCAN site 03, I would almost bet on Herriman. The TGID number does not fall into any previously recognized pattern to be sure so more listening will need to be done.

KUTV News Video

KUTV - Runoff from overfilled retention ponds has officials from Herriman and Salt Lake City stacking sandbags around parts of town to protect buildings from water damage.

Melting snow has threatened homes in Saratoga Springs.

As temperatures warm into the 40s, wet snow on canyon roads is also causing problems for drivers.

Runoff has already caused trouble in Saratoga Springs. Water flooded Redwood Road and came within inches of a home’s window wells.

Tim Schreibler said he heard cars driving through deep water on Redwood Road Sunday night. His backyard was flooded and water was about to run into his window wells.

Saratoga Springs workers rushed out and diverted the water from the road and the homes. The pumping has created a small creek in the neighborhood, but has kept flooding from damaging homes.

Redwood Road still has limited traffic. Officials are asking people to take alternate routes.

The snow continues to fall. Eastbound Interstate 80 near the Kimball Junction was gridlocked on Sunday while police and tow trucks helped stranded drivers move their cars off the road.

A winter storm warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Monday. More rain is expected in the valley, while the Wasatch and Western Uinta Mountains could get as much as 7 inches of new snow.

Yep, that would be Saratoga Springs. Now the idea is to find out WHO the TG is. Is it county, city, public works, streets? That is the drill we go through.

By the way, tbogs, that is a good catch.

Thanks...sure sounds like the fire department...the go-to-guy they call chief and have been gathering volunteers at the fire station. Not sure if its city, county but it sure sounds like the fire department.

That would make sense too because the FD gets called out first in flooding situations.

I still haven't heard the traffic, but I am really surprised you are catching it on site 03 because Saratoga Springs is just west of Utah Lake. I would have thought that site 04 (Utah County) or site 011 (Nelson Peak) would be likely suspects to carry this traffic from there.

Junior1970 lives in that area so he would be the person to do a good ID.

I've got one radio setup for catching unknown TGs and another for scanning throughout the valley. I'm running trunker as well and everything is showing up on site 3...its really weird. Just thought I'd throw this TG out there and see what we can figure out.

It's Saratoga PD Tactical. The "Chief" is Chief Hicken (26J1). I was in the Saratoga Springs development east of Redwood Road a couple of hours ago checking out the flooding and saw the chief talking on his radio where water was rushing over the road. The water is washing away the road where the potholes were and Saratoga PW and UDOT are out fixing the problem. The cars they had parked over the potholes to keep traffic off of them were police vehicles. They are only letting one lane of traffic down SR68 (Redwood) at a time. The reason I'm confident It's their 'Tac" channel is because: a) all Saratoga departments are using the channel and b) The "City" channel that PW is using is confirmed and I've confirmed the "Car To Car" channel (see thread on TG 49024.)
Most public safety radios in Utah County that I've had the pleasure of checking out their channel template (with the exception of county or UHP and the larger cities of Orem & Provo) usually consist of a "City" channel, a "Car to Car" channel and a "Tac" channel.
When I find a new TG I program a series of TGs in my scanner, above and below the mystery TG. Being that UCAN TGs are all divisible by 32 it's simple math. When TG 49056 show up recently I programmed TGs 49024, 48992, 48960, 49088 & 49120 in my old PRO 93 and just scanned those TGs. I'm not saying my system is foolproof but it definitely worked in this case.

Okay, tbogs, make sure that TG gets into the Db.

And that is the way we do it!

EDIT: Post back in this thread once you have submitted the TG to the Db Admins.

Thanks, got it added. If you guys keep this up we'll have to add a new category just for Saratoga Springs! :p

It will be nice when Lindsay adds the ability to order TGs within a group (other than by TG number) so that a town's TGs can be grouped together. I've recently learned a negative side to creating too many groups: when you download a large system from RR to a Uniden scanner, the software assigns RR's TG groups to the system's TG groups, and there's a limit of 20 per system (on my 396, at least). So it forces me to deselect groups until I reach 20. Therefore I can't load all of UCAN into my scanner without some major rearranging. I've asked the bcTool programmer to find a way to combine groups, and we'll see if he tackles that.
