My apologies if this is redundant, but my searches have failed to produce a clear answer.

I am a longtime Bearcat user, now with 996/396 as my primary scanners.

I am hoping someone can clarify something for me. Can the BC536HP be monitored with full controllability from a remote PC?

My objective is to have the 536HP running in another city, and be by fully controllable from my home PC and/or smartphone.

Thanks in advance.

Interesting product. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but thanks anyway. I'm looking for complete remote controllability via a wifi connection only.

It is not clear to me what you are trying to do. In your original post it sounds as if you want to have Internet control, yet your later post says you want to do a "wifi connection only" ! These are obviously two different topics as I don't understand how at "wifi connection only' would cover a different city?

Can you explain more what you are trying to do?

I think you could, at least in concept. Might be a real big pain to get going however.

You could have ARC 536 Pro Virtual Control running on your home computer. Then you could use some type of Remote Desktop application to link your "away" computer with your "home" computer.

Unfortunately I know just enough about Remote Desktop applications to make me dangerous. I had to get someone a lot more technically savvy than me to set one up so I could "remote" in from my home computer to my office computer.

Nevertheless the theory part is there.

Unfortunately, without another computer connected to the scanner at the remote location. There is no way to connect directly to the scanner alone without a computer over WiFi. At lest not until the firmware update and this so called app is ever released if even then. If you had another computer connected at the remote location to the scanner. Then you could use ProScan. I use it with all 8 of my scanners which 4 are 996 and 4 are 536 and I am able to control them remotely and stream no problems to my app. As of now, that is your only option. The 536 or any for that matter can't connect to the internet by itself without a computer.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

It seems that the wifi option for the 536HP is not available, and it is unclear when/if it will be.

The options I have found are using a 996 with either ProScan or Scanner Station. Scanner Station is an interesting software platform available through Scannermaster. It does require a computer at both locations, and it is not cheap.

Thanks again for the input

Radio Feed is free and is made by the same guy that makes ProScan. It does the same thing ProScan does just without the function to load the database and other things. I think the Radio Feed will be what you'll looking for and will work fine. It will work with the 536 as well. Here is the link if you want to look into it.
