"33.700 192.8 SOMERSET COUNTY PA FIRE DISPATCH"

So, we made it over to NJ. Nice! I miss the days when Los Angeles FD would come booming in on this frequency. They'd be so strong the dispatcher could'nt hear local traffic.

It was city of LA but they're on 800 mhz now. Back in the early 80's and 90's I could hear dispatcher and all mobiles full quieting. It was near impossible to get any local calls thru. Also there was 4 bordering counties using 33.700 too. Three of them still do.

Which one gave up? Did Cambria abandon 33.70?
I know traffic from Fayette should be dispatch only since we use the 800 TRS for everything else except minitor alerting.

As far as LA county goes 33.70 used to be LA County Channel 7.
301-Uniontown (Former Fire Dispatch for Fayette county prior to 911 activating on June 3, 1996) used to keep LA County Fire on speed dial to have them switch channels when the skip got too bad.

Pretty amazing when HT's from LA would wipe out 100 W mobiles 6 miles from the tower site. . .

Yes Tony, Cambria is no longer on low band at all. Fire dispatch is 453.225 and EMS is 453.550. In fact Somerset now uses Cambria's old 33.48, 33.54, and 33.76 for extra operations channels. 33.70 is a little quieter here these days with you and Westmoreland on trunking. Sometimes though it can still be a little crowded.
