Hi I have just bought a new AR 8200 Mk3 (owned it for 2 weeks) and noticed it has a background hum in the audio on voice traffic UHF. On VHF it's still there. but only very soft.
I'm a bit disappointed with this as I had an ICOM RX7 which had far better/clearer audio with no hum.
My hearing is not the best so I use earbuds through a mono/stereo adapter. I tried another set of headphones in case it was them, but it was even worse as the hum is low tone.
I am using Nicads and the scanner is not plugged into the mains.
I'm beginning to regret getting this radio and rue the fact that I should've stuck with ICOM. Its heavy and the batteries have no endurance by comparison.
