I've also stumbled across this freq. with a CC. After looking in the FCC DB, I can only guess it's the Charlotte Observer TRS. Can anyone a little closer in to Charlotte listen in and verify so we can add it to the DB? Here's the info:

WNYU 207
856.4125
857.4125
858.4125
859.4125
860.4125

There is only one site listed for Hood Rd. at the Channel 36 Tower. Thanks for your help.

I have monitored this on my 396 at my house in Indian Trail. I have yet to monitor any conversations, but the control channel is very strong at my house.

The CC is very strong in Eastern Gastonia as well (outside) using the RS 800 duck on my 97. I'm getting between 97 & 99%

I'll monitor it in open mode the next few mornings to see who is on it.

Talkgroup 464 active Saturday morning. Two carriers talking to each other about which streets they've covered. BTW, system id is 3235h, cc is 858.4125.

Talkgroup 752 - base to carrier (carrier asked base to call a subscriber)

And it sounds like 464 would be carrier to carrier talkgroup.

Goof Up!

Sorry about the CC mix up Scott. I had been looking at lots of freqs. at the time. Thanks, as well, for the TG info.

BTW, what time frame did you hear those conversations?

It was early Saturday morning. Probably between 7am and 9am.

The conversations were obviously about newspaper delivery. The mentioned particular houses where folks had been missed. Later on they were talking about a subscriber who needed a new paper tube mounted at her mailbox.

I'm planning on spending some time this week listening during the day. I'm curious to see if the reporters have talkgroups on this system.

Thanks for your hard work on this.

I noticed one of the supervisors for the carriers had a 800 Mhz antenna and Moto radio in his vehicle back during the summer. I had never really thought they would use a TRS that much.

If you mean 856.4125 vs 858.4125, it wasn't a mix up.

They had the TRS for atleast 10 years, and the control frequency changes quite often. 857.4125 is another of the control frequencies.

Looking over my logs, I've never noted the the control frequency on 859.4125 or 860.4125 MHz.

I've had this system running off and on the last three days. The only time of day I'm hearing anything is in the morning and it all sounds related to delivery. Also mentions USA Today deliveries, not sure if the Observer handles that??

Additional active talkgroups are 688 & 720 and it all sounds pretty much the same.

The Charlotte Observer now delivers papers for USA Today. I have been getting both at my house for several months. now.

It would be nice if the Observer could find someone like Tara Servatius who will actually report a story without the evident liberal bias. She's the best part of Creative Loafing.
