I understand the difference in priority scanning on a conventional system using the PRI button and menu controlled priority scanning of a talk group on a trunked system. My question is: If possible, how do I program my 996XT for one or two talkgroups in the same system to be priority scanned even if the scanner happens to be monitoring another system at the time? For instance, suppose we have designated the Fire Dispatch to be a priority talkgroup on a Motorola system. All is set up in the menu with priority scan turned on for that system and the talkgroup Fire Dispatc designated as a priority talkgroup. All is working well when the scanner is only monitoring that system. Now, assume the system is not locked out but the scanner at the moment happens to be scanning another bank of aviation or ham frequencies and Fire Dispatch becomes active. Will the radio revert to the Mot system and monitor that channel while active? I guess the question is will designating a talk group as priority and turning on priority scan for that system have a radio wide effect? I apologize if this question has already been addressed but I couldn't find it so in the forum. Regards.
